All about skin resurfacing
CO2 Laser Skin Resurfacing, or skin resurfacing, is an innovative treatment that turns laser light into a powerful, skin-building tool. Using a Fraxel® laser, Dr. Kerendian can improve the look of your skin in as little as a single visit. At your initial consultation, we work together to choose an appropriate series of treatments for your skin based on your medical history, current health, and lifestyle. Please be sure to mention to us if you’re taking any medications, so that we can keep you safe.
If Dr. Kerendian decides that you’re a good candidate for skin resurfacing, he’ll recommend a number of treatments for you and establish a timeline for your visits. During the procedure, Dr. Kerendian passes the Fraxel laser over your skin, creating micro-wounds that encourage your skin to bounce back with greater collagen and elastin production. This breaks up scarring and hyperpigmentation, and gives your skin a chance to bounce back as wrinkles soften. Laser skin resurfacing helps with a number of skin issues, including:
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Acne and associated scarring
- Pigmentation, birthmarks, and liver spots
- Surgical scars
- Stretch marks
- Warts
- Enlarged pores
On average, Dr. Kerendian schedules a total of 3-5 treatments, but the number of sessions will depend on your personal needs.
What happens during skin rejuvenation?
Skin rejuvenation is a multi-step restoration process for your skin. Through a customized treatment plan created for you, we address skin concerns, such as:
- Loose skin
- Hyperpigmentation
- Dull, drab skin
- Blotchy skin
- Wrinkles, including crow’s feet and laugh lines
Just as with laser skin resurfacing, we always start with a consultation. Dr. Kerendian is ready with a variety of different treatment options that refresh your skin and fight the signs of aging.
Some popular options are chemical peels and microdermabrasion, two deep exfoliating treatments that remove dead skin from your face and body. We also offer FDA-approved Latisse® for longer, thicker, stronger lashes. Thicker, longer lashes widen the eye and make it look bigger and brighter.
If you’re a candidate for stronger treatments, Dr. Kerendian is proud to offer platelet-rich plasma anti-aging treatments, and the afore-mentioned laser skin resurfacing. Laser skin resurfacing is part of all of this, and a great choice for the right candidates.
Which one is right for me?
The biggest difference between skin resurfacing and skin rejuvenation is positioning — skin resurfacing belongs under the available services as part of our skin rejuvenation practice. Choosing skin resurfacing does not mean that you can’t receive other treatments. It does, however, mean that Dr. Kerendian is still working with you to get the results that you want.
