Starting a family, or adding to your existing one, is a significant choice because it means carrying the child for nine months inside of you.
Because of the hormonal changes you go through to bring your bundle of joy into the world, you can experience added weight, swollen extremities, and breast and cervical changes.
If you’re struggling to get back in shape once your child is born, let’s examine the changes you go through after pregnancy, exercises you can use to help get into shape, and how our mommy makeover can help you complete your journey.
Women living in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, and Bakersfield, California, looking to get their pre-pregnancy body back can get help from Dr. Farzin Kerendian and our experienced medical team at Desired Beauty.
Changes your body goes through due to pregnancy
Your body adapts to life with a living child for nine months by adding weight, retaining fluid, and changing your breast size. And these changes can be lasting post-pregnancy, such as excess weight (especially in the stomach area), stretch marks, enlarged breasts, varicose veins, back pain, thicker thighs, and scars if you had a C-section.
The physical changes can combine with anxiety, depression, skin discoloration, acne, hair loss, soreness, and fatigue. Vaginal pain and urinary incontinence are also common.
Exercises to help get you back into shape
You can gain 35 pounds or more during pregnancy, and while you lose some of the weight after the baby is born, losing the rest of that weight can be a challenge.
You can usually start exercising days after giving birth if you feel up to it. Starting gradually is a good idea — think about walking around the block and building up to walking up to 30 minutes a day. Around six weeks, you should be looking to get about 150 hours of exercise weekly, though if you’ve had a C-section, the timeframe can vary.
Your focus should be on core training, including Kegel exercises and belly breathing. Jogging strollers, mom and baby classes, and asking for help when needed can help you make time for exercise.
What we can do to revitalize your body
Our mommy makeover to help you get your pre-pregnancy body back. Here are some of the options:
Tummy tuck:
During this procedure, we remove excess skin and fat from the abdominal area and reposition the skin to give it a more toned look.
Breast augmentation
This procedure utilizes saline or other materials to enhance breast size or transfer fat from elsewhere on your body to increase your bust.
Breast lift
The weight of larger breasts during pregnancy can cause them to sag. Fortunately, we can manage it with a breast lift. The process tightens the skin and tissue around breasts to bring them up and reshape their contours.
Breast reduction
Large breasts can result in back pain and other issues. We can remove the excess fat and glandular tissue to create a more manageable size.
Liposuction
We use suction to remove fat from areas of your body where it tends to deposit after pregnancy, such as your thighs, hips, buttocks, abdomen, arms, and neck.
