At Desired Beauty, with two office locations in Bakersfield and the Beverly Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles, California, board-certified cosmetic surgeon Farzin Kerendian provides safe, effective liposuction to remove saddlebag fat and help you love your thighs.
Lipo basics
Liposuction is often referred to as body-contouring surgery. It’s a cosmetic procedure designed to reshape your body curves by removing fat through a tiny incision that allows the fat to be sucked out through a small tube.
Hard-to-lose fat may be lurking in almost anyplace on your body, from your neck to your ankles, but many people have the biggest issue around their midsection down to their thighs. Fat on the outside of the upper thighs is what is commonly known as “saddlebag” fat.
Dr. Kerendian consults with you about your self-image and your aesthetic goals to identify exactly where and how lipo can help. He then develops specific, achievable goals for your liposuction treatment.
Are you a good candidate?
The main qualifiers for this cosmetic surgery are that you are in good health, are within 20 pounds of a healthy weight, have flexible skin, understand the limitations of lipo, and are committed to a healthy lifestyle.
You also need realistic expectations and must want to do lipo for yourself, not for someone else. Liposuction doesn’t magically remove weight, and most patients lose only two to five pounds total at the most from fat removal.
If you’re not a good candidate for liposuction, don’t lose hope! Dr. Kerendian can advise you how to become a good candidate for lipo in the near future or he may recommend other procedures that are better suited to you.
After lipo
After your liposuction procedure, Dr. Kerendian may leave a few small tubes in your incisions for a couple of days to allow fluid to drain away and reduce retention. He also gives you a compression garment to speed healing and keep swelling to a minimum.
Complete healing from lipo can take one to two months, and you should expect some significant discoloration and bruising during the first few weeks. That’s what makes wintertime a good season to schedule lipo, as you can heal before swimsuit season.
