Gynecomastia is an enlargement of the male breast.
This is not uncommon, effecting as many as 40% of men.
It may affect one or both breast. The majority of the
cases have no known causes while others might be related
to hormonal changes or to drugs.
Gynecomastia can be caused by excess glandular breast
tissue, excess fat, or a combination both. For correction
of excess glandular tissue, a small curved incision
around areola is made though which they are excised.
When excess fat is present, liposuction is performed
to remove the excess fat and sculpt the chest. Often
both methods are used to achieve the best aesthetic
results.
This surgery has a high rate of satisfaction with short
recovery period. Many recover and resume work in 2-3
days.
